Altered textiles - brandishing heat guns.

Today one of members Clare ran a workshop on altered textiles involving all sorts of interesting techniques. Sewing machines, heat guns and irons at the ready participants zapped, crashed, manipulated and partially destroyed 😬 layered fabrics. There was plenty of bondaweb and transfer foil, fancy stitching and new fabrics with textures created. Everyone had a great time playing. Thanks to Clare for all her hard work putting the workshop together.

While some were busy in the workshop, others were stitching away other own thing:

Teabags aren't just for a cuppa.

Today Jackie led us in a mini workshop on teabag landscapes. Jackie is a real whizz with her left over teabags and has shown us her beautiful work using them many times. Well, we got to join in today. She has been saving Yorkshire teabags (what else?!) for a while, drying and preparing them for us to use. She brought inlets of little bits and pieces to create our miniature landscapes - bits of scrim, plumbers scrim(?!), evenweave fabrics and florist's ribbon; we got to delve into her ort tin of lacy scraps. Once we had selected pieces for out background, middle and foreground we stitched them down and then added embroidery. Everyone loved the results and they were all different. Don't throw you teabags away, turn them into mini works of art!

Gnomes at the AGM

Apparently a collection of gnomes is called a donsy; or... an annoyance, a picnic, an army depending on where you look. It's also a shortage of elves. Anyway, Monday was the AGM but more importantly it was Pauline's gnome workshop. Many thanks Pauline for pulling this one out of the bag at fairly short notice. Everyone had a great time making their gnomes and we got lots sorted out at the AGM.

Here's a donsy of gnomes or as I prefer a charm of gnomes 😆
