A Trip Down Memory Lane Part 1
For context, Jill who has been storing some of our 'stuff' is moving house and handed over a bag with photos, work and memorabilia. What do you do with it all? If it's sitting in someone's attic then no one sees it and it's forgotten about. So, I've started scanning it all and taking photos. Bits of paper are now filling my recycling bin. I've saved the photos so members can take them if they want and obviously I haven't thrown actual work away - I'm hoping that it will be re-homed by whoever did it or by someone who takes a fancy to it. If things aren't claimed then I'm not quite sure what I'll do! We'll deal with that later.
It goes against the grain binning things but you can't keep everything forever. I'm sure you've all had to make some hard decisions when having a sorting out session. My roof is full of my own (and offspring's) bits and pieces that I keep trying to downsize, so I'm not really up for adding to it with any more Skipton Stitchers stuff in addition to what's already up there! Anyway, I thought that if there's a digital record then that solves the problem. So, I'm planning a series of posts with just some of the items from our archive as I gradually get everything scanned.
Let's kick off with the 70s, 80s and 90s. This was a fairly quick sorting out job, just programmes, but I thought it would be interesting for you to see what was in the programmes at the time. I'm not quite sure how it worked but it seems like there was a regional programme listing all local branches of the Embroiderers' Guild. Maybe you remember some of the following if you were local at the time!

And then...
