Applique Panels

We had a lovely chilled day chatting and making applique panels with one of our super talented members Jackie; you will no doubt have seen our posts about the beautiful books she makes.

So, mindful of the inevitable faffing (technical term) that many of us resort to when gathering bits and pieces for a workshop - picking colours, threads etc etc, Jackie limited us to black and cream! We worked on a roughly 6"x8" calico backing and pin stitched scraps of black and cream fabric to it. Next we added some lace, music manuscript, words, buttons and safety pins. Then it was on to some stitching to embellish and raise the surface a little.

Everyone's piece was so different and we had a relaxing day stitching. I don't think we're all finished but here's the fruits of our labours.
